The Comparing Numbers Unit involves understanding the relative position and magnitude of whole numbers, and their relationships within the numeration system. Students will answer questions such as:
- Which group has more? Less?
- Do any groups have the same number? How do you know?
Summative Assessment Task
Students determine who put a greater number of books on a book shelf.
Instructional Tasks/Formative Assessments
Students determine whether or not Mike found ten marbles.
Students determine how many less apples are in a bowl than on a tray.
Students determine who is carrying the most books to the library.
Students count to find if Peg has found all 12 of her pennies.
Students count different amounts of crayons to determine if a total of 12 crayons have been found.
Students determine if Angela found all seven of her pigs on the farm.
Students determine if Ted and Rey have the same number of fish in their fish tanks.
Students determine if Gwen and Kate have the same number of pebbles in their hands.
Students determine if there are the same amount of insects in two jars.
Students determine if Dana and Aisha picked the same number of dandelions.
The N/A classification refers to TEKS Standards that cannot be assessed through problem solving.
For this reason, tasks have not been included for these particular standards.
