Summative Assessment Task

Students create a line plot to record data on how many minutes the students in Mrs. Blake's class read on Tuesday night. Students also determine the total number of hours the entire class read.

Instructional Tasks/Formative Assessments

Students create a graphical display to correspond with class data that records the height of bean plants the class is growing for Mother's Day. Students will also make conclusions about the data in their display.

Given a list of data, students create a graph to represent the amount of formula newborn puppies drink at their noon feeding. Students will also draw mathematical conclusions about the data.

Students create a graph to record the amount of food hunting hawks need to eat before bedtime. Students will also draw two mathematical conclusions from the data.

Students create a stem-and-leaf plot to represent class data on the distances traveled by snails. Students then determine how far most snails traveled before they stopped to rest.
