Grade 1 - Number Concepts and Place Value Unit
The Number Concepts and Place Value Unit involves understanding the relative positions of numbers in our numeration system and that numbers can be used to name groups of objects in order to answer questions such as:
- Without counting, how can you use the familiar arrangements of dots on a domino or a ten frame to figure out how many dots there are in all?
- How can you use numbers to show how many marbles are in this jar?
- How can you use base-10 blocks to show what the numerals in this number mean?
- What other way(s) can you use tens and ones to show this number without changing its value?
