The Number Patterns Unit involves understanding the relationship between numbers and will enable students to answer questions such as:
- What patterns do you notice as you count beyond 20 (beyond 60, 100 etc.)? What happens when you count one more than 39 (59, 99, 109, 119 etc.)?
- When you count a group of objects by ones, how many do you get? Do you think you will still get the same number of objects when you group the objects by 2s, 5s, or 10s to count them? Try it to see.
- What happens when you run out of groups of 10 to count? How will you count the single objects that are left to find the total?

Students determine which girl sings all of her songs first.

Students count by tens to determine if Eli put 100 pennies in ten cups.
Students count by tens to determine if there are 100 craft sticks to make a toy boat.
Students count by tens to determine if Ava has enough pencils for each pencil box.
Students determine if Hannah has 10 more pennies than Tyler.
The N/A classification refers to TEKS Standards that cannot be assessed through problem solving.
For this reason, tasks have not been included for these particular standards.
