The Comparing Numbers Unit involves understanding the relative position and magnitude of whole numbers, and their relationships within the numeration system. Students will answer questions such as:
- Which number is greatest? Least? How do you know? How can you use symbols to show these relationships?
- How can you order these numbers from least to greatest? How can you prove you are correct?
- How can you use a number line to show the relationships between numbers?
Summative Assessment Task
Students determine the shortest route to the city.
Instructional Tasks/Formative Assessments
Students add the total number of book pages read, to create an inequality statement.
Students determine if more birds were counted this year over last year, when given the total numbers of 5 different types of birds.
Students determine which child's name had a higher point total.
Students determine if two numbers are the same or different.
The N/A classification refers to TEKS Standards that cannot be assessed through problem solving.
For this reason, tasks have not been included for these particular standards.
