The Number Concepts and Place Value Unit involves understanding the relative positions of numbers in our the numeration system and that numbers can be used to name groups of objects in order to answer questions such as:
- How can you use numbers to show how many marbles are in this jar?
- How could you use base-10 blocks to show what the numerals in this number mean?
- What other way(s) can you use tens and ones to show this number without changing its value?
Summative Assessment Task
Students determine how many more buttons Michael needs to collect to have a total of 100 buttons.
Instructional Tasks/Formative Assessments
Students determine if Ava or Mia will be the first to read all 108 pages of a book about dogs.
Students continue a pattern to see how many pages will be read on the ninth day.
Students determine how many more pennies are needed to have a total of 120 pennies in packets of 10.
Students determine how many more stickers are needed to fill all 10 pages of a sticker collection book.
The N/A classification refers to TEKS Standards that cannot be assessed through problem solving.
For this reason, tasks have not been included for these particular standards.
